New Acquisition and Sale: Ann Aguirre

In Client on March 28, 2009 at 8:10 pm

Ann Aguirre, formerly with Bradford Lit, has signed a new agency representation agreement with Dear Author Literary Agency. We made an immediate sale on behalf of Ms. Aguirre to Malle Vallik of Harlequin. The Publishers’ Marketplace blurb will read as follows:

Ann Aguirre’s DEER LICK SEASON, and two accompanying novellettes, in which a town of widowed virgins are hassled by the human men until the weredeer come to their rescue. This spicy trilogy is due for
publication in late 2009 in a nice deal to Malle Vallik by Jane Litte
of D.A.M.N.

New Acquisition and Sale: International Consoritum of Heroes

In Client on March 28, 2009 at 1:06 am

erased-art-1I’m thrilled to announce the purchase of the non fiction memoir of the International Consortium of Heroes. This book was sold at auction after an intense bidding war. We started the bidding fairly high as I knew that this speciality piece would either be very attractive or loser publishers wouldn’t be able to see the genius of it. Fortunately folks at one house in particular recognized that a non fiction memoir of a number of men who have already starred in bestselling novels and have fired the sexual imaginations of millions of readers was not to be missed.

We are a bit concerned regarding the pictorial content. We intend to include several illustrations and color photographs to tell the story and will need to hammer out exactly the rights issue regarding that but overall, our mid six figure sale is a great way to launch this highly respected agency. One day open and we are already blowing the competition out of the water.

New Acquisition and Sale: Gyna Colewater

In Client on March 20, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Gyna Colewater is an emerging author whose sexy tales will blow the socks off the competition. Hacks like Gena Showalter and Kresley Cole can’t begin to compete with what Gyna will be bringing to the romance world.  She’s so hot, her entourage includes 5 bare chested (and completely denuded) firemen. We were able to quickly sell her work for an amazing deal. Our PM quote will read as follows:

Gyna Colewater’s THE MUFFIN MAN, the searingly passionate inspirational erotica about a sicilian bajillionaire on Blueberry Lane and the virgin whose muffin tops he cannot resist, to Malle Vallik for Harlequin Spice Briefs, in a tremendous deal, by Jane Litte.

Dear Author Media Network

In Uncategorized on March 19, 2009 at 1:12 am

Someone emailed me and asked if we would be doing legal work beyond representing individuals. Absolutely. We will be providing legal consultations for individuals wanting to bring publishing lawsuits. This falls under the Dear Author Media Network.

Frankly we see too many authors being ripped off by ineffective agents and by greedy publishers. We plan to put a stop to this by engaging in hard hitting negotiations and when that fails, lawsuits. We know how to sue and aren’t afraid to use that tool in our powertool chest. Others might only bring a hammer.

We have a sledgehammer, an ax, a mace, a club, and all kinds of other weapons from the medieval to the modern. Going with any other entertainment agency will only render you substandard service. Either you want success or you don’t.

First Page Fridays

In Uncategorized on March 15, 2009 at 1:25 am

On Fridays, we’ll post the first page of a submission and critique it. No weak kneed authors here. You have to be ready to have your submission ripped about. Criticism is part of the business. Either take it or get out.
